Imphal: The Eastern Kuki Chiefs Association has officially condemned a violent armed attack on Kultuh village in Manipur's Kamjong district. The assault, which occurred around 4 am on June 11, resulted in the deaths of two church leaders and widespread property damage.
Authorities identified the victims as Letminlun Haokip, the Head Deacon of Kultuh Church, and Lunminthang Haokip, the church's Youth Chairman. According to the association, militants allegedly associated with the NSCN Eastern Flank and the Shanni National Army targeted the village, setting fire to seven homes and the local church. Two additional civilians sustained injuries during the raid and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The association characterized the event as a deliberate strike against civilians and religious property. In an official statement, the group asserted, "The burning of a church and the killing of unarmed civilians represent a grave assault on human dignity, religious freedom, and the fundamental right to life."
The violence has created deep fear and grief throughout the local community. In response, the Eastern Kuki Chiefs Association is calling for an immediate investigation and stronger security measures in the area to prevent future incidents. They have demanded that authorities identify those responsible and pursue strict legal action against all perpetrators involved in the attack.
