Shillong: Electoral roll revision is moving fast in East Khasi Hills. District officials report that 84.96 percent of enumeration forms are now in the hands of voters. This Special Intensive Revision kicked off on June 30 across 15 Assembly constituencies. It covers all 898 polling stations.
As of July 17, authorities distributed 4,77,465 forms to the district’s 5,62,001 electors. Of those, 1,20,906 forms are already digitised. That covers 21.51 percent of the total electorate. The district SIR helpline handled 87 calls by July 17. Every single issue was resolved. Officials confirmed that "the distribution of enumeration forms has been progressing smoothly, with active participation from the electorate."
Mawkynrew leads the district in distribution at 97.09 percent. Pynursla follows at 94.18 percent. West Shillong sits at the bottom with 73.22 percent. Mawsynram leads in digitisation at 32.72 percent, followed by Pynursla at 32.12 percent and Mawkynrew at 30.09 percent.
Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Wahlang chaired a meeting with political party representatives on Thursday. They urged voters to visit polling stations on July 18. Officials continue house-to-house verification. Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers conducted inspections across multiple zones. Field checks hit Mawryngkneng and South Shillong on July 16. Inspectors then moved to West Shillong, Nongkrem, Sohiong, and Pynthorumkhrah on July 17.
