East Khasi Hills Hits 81 Percent Mark in Voter Roll Revision

Shillong: East Khasi Hills officials have pushed voter roll updates past the 81 percent mark. The district administration confirmed 4,58,038 enumeration forms reached residents out of 5,62,001 total electors. This 81.50 percent coverage follows a June 30 start date across 898 polling locations within 15 Assembly constituencies. Data entry efforts remain underway, with 1,00,403 forms now digitised.

District staff are working hard. The SIR helpline handled 87 calls on Thursday, and all issues found resolutions. Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Wahlang led a meeting with political parties the same day to track progress. Officials pushed for attendance at local polling stations on July 18 to wrap up the count. During the meeting, the administration noted the "importance of public participation" in the ongoing electoral process.

Electoral Registration Officers fanned out for field checks on July 15 and 16. They visited several areas including East Shillong, Sohiong, Mylliem, Pynursla, Nongthymmai, North Shillong, Pynthorumkhrah, and Mawlai. Mawkynrew leads the district in form distribution at 94.10 percent. Pynursla follows at 90.61 percent and Sohiong holds 89.35 percent. Nongthymmai currently sits at the bottom with 70.43 percent coverage. Mawsynram leads digitisation efforts, recording 28.77 percent of forms processed.
