Kohima: Dimapur officials gathered stone crusher operators at Hotel Saramati on August 5. The District Industries Centre and Nagaland Pollution Control Board led the session. They aimed to push cleaner operations under the National Clean Air Programme. N. Abeno Lotha, a functional manager at DIC, chaired the event. He told the crowd that environmental protection and sustainable industrial practices matter.
Chikuotho Nyusuo, the DIC general manager, delivered the keynote address. He insisted on finding a balance between growing industry and protecting the environment. He urged operators to play by the rules to ensure sustainable development. Olivia Chophy, a senior scientific assistant with the board, spoke on Ambient Air Quality and its Impact. She laid out how dust from crushers ruins the air. She explained, "The importance of maintaining ambient air quality and outlined the role of NPCB in safeguarding the environment."
Technical training followed. Mvudzeyu Shuya, a scientist with the NPCB, broke down the specific laws. She pushed operators to get formal board consents. She told them to install proper gear and keep strict records. Ignoring these standards risks legal trouble and hurts public health. Jethro Mesen closed the day by thanking all the participants.
