Kohima: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union is demanding a new recruitment drive for 46 constable positions within the Excise Department. The union's call follows a High Court ruling that previously set aside the recruitment process due to procedural irregularities and a failure to follow official guidelines.
In a formal statement, the union insisted that these vacancies must be filled through a fresh recruitment process conducted strictly in accordance with relevant service rules and established procedures. The DNSU also urged state authorities to launch a thorough review of existing staff to uncover potential backdoor appointments. The union argues that any individuals found to be hired unlawfully should be removed, with their positions added to the current vacancies to be opened up for fair competition.
By consolidating these openings into a single, transparent hiring process, the group believes the state can restore public trust. As the union noted, this would ensure that all eligible candidates are provided an equal opportunity to compete on merit. The organization remains focused on protecting the interests of local job seekers and expects the ongoing court proceedings to uphold accountability in all future public appointments.
