Kohima: Experts at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dimapur brought scientific farming to Khriezephe Village. They held a day-long training session at the Natural Farming Model Demonstration Unit. The team wants local farmers to drop chemical habits.
E. Lireni Kikon showed the group how to mix Jeevamrit. This microbial culture uses simple, local ingredients to boost soil health. Growers soaked paddy seedlings in a 1:10 dilution of the mix before planting. The process strengthens roots and kicks off healthy crop growth.
Dr. Bendangla Imsong led a session on line transplanting. Proper spacing improves airflow and makes weeding easier. Experts claim it leads to higher yields. Dr. Phool Kumari noted that the center remains dedicated to the region. She said her team provides "various extension, training, and technology dissemination activities undertaken by the KVK for the benefit of the farming community."
The training aims to increase productivity across Dimapur. Farmers left with new tools for better harvests. They now have a clear path to move away from expensive, store-bought inputs.
