Kohima: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dimapur brought farmers to Khriezephe Village for a deep dive into natural paddy farming. The training focused on ditching chemical inputs for sustainable, eco-friendly techniques. Dr. Phool Kumari opened the session by outlining how KVK helps local growers adopt smarter technology to improve their harvest.
E Lireni Kikon led the charge on soil health. She showed farmers how to mix Jeevamrit, a microbial culture made from simple, local ingredients. Participants learned to soak their paddy seedlings in a diluted solution before planting. Trainers claim this step "promotes healthy root development and enhances crop vigour."
Dr. Bendangla Imsong shifted the focus to the mechanics of the field. She demonstrated scientific line transplanting to ensure precise plant spacing. This layout keeps air moving through the crops and makes daily field work easier. Farmers wrapped up the day with hands-on practice, getting a feel for these techniques before heading back to their own land.
