Kohima: Dimapur marked the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with a three-day event concluding on August 30. The Ministry of Culture, the North East Zone Cultural Centre, and the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha hosted the commemoration at the Police Colony Gurdwara. It drew crowds of devotees and local leaders.
Events kicked off August 28 at 10:30 am with the Arambh Sri Akhand Path Sahib. Gurdwara president Harjinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia delivered the welcome address before serving food to the public. Evening prayers and an illumination of the premises followed on August 29. A Langar fed 150 people during the festivities.
The August 30 closing ceremony began with the Bhog Sri Akhand Path Sahib at 11 am, followed by the Seva Nishan Sahib. Bhai Harpal Singh and Sons performed Shabad Kirtan for nearly two hours. DIG Pritpal Kaur Batra joined the event as the chief guest. NEZCC Director Alobo Naga praised the Guru’s life while stressing the importance of shared values. He said, "The Northeast's cultural, linguistic and religious diversity was its strength and that culture could serve as a means of bringing communities together."
Naga also detailed previous commemorations in Dhubri, Maligaon, Guwahati, and Hojai. He noted future events planned for Agartala, Shillong, Imphal, and Naharlagun. After officials received Siropa and mementos, the gathering ended with Guru Ka Atut Langar at 2 pm. The Samuh Sadh Sangat managed the food service.

The event was part of a wider, year-long national commemoration effort. Beyond the primary prayer services, the Istri Satsang Sabha handled serving tea and snacks during the final day. The closing ceremony also saw heads, presidents, and secretaries from various local community organizations and unions gather for the final Ardas and Sampooran Samapti.
Director Alobo Naga expanded on the Guru's legacy, emphasizing values of courage, compassion, and freedom of faith. He noted that the Guru's message remains relevant for maintaining human dignity today.
