Dimapur Chamber of Commerce Initiates Non-Cooperation Movement Against DNSU

Kohima: The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has officially launched a non-cooperation movement against the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU). The chamber has instructed all affiliated businesses to refuse any donation requests, summons, or information inquiries from the student organization.

This decision follows a joint resolution passed on June 3, 2026, by the DCCI alongside the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation and the GB Union Dimapur Sadar. Businesses are urged to report any interactions with the DNSU to the DCCI Grievances Cell immediately. The chamber is currently working with the local urban council and GB unions to circulate this directive across all jurisdictions in the city.

The move comes in response to the DNSU’s history of closing business establishments, a practice the DCCI deems unacceptable. While the chamber maintains that it does not defend illegal business operations, it insists that student groups cannot act as enforcers. The DCCI stated, "the random act of closing down a business establishment by a student body is totally uncalled for and must be criticised by all."

The chamber clarified that it supports accountability in trade practices but expects citizens and organizations to report grievances to the proper legal authorities instead of acting unilaterally. Emphasizing the need for a lawful society, the DCCI concluded that "no individual or organisation should take the law into their own hands, as no one is above the law."
