Guwahati: The Dima Hasao Shotokan Karate team hauled 21 medals at the 4th APJ Abdul Kalam International School and Senior National Karate Championship. Fighters competed on July 19, 2026, at the Shree Agrasain Seva Samity in Howrah, Kolkata. The tournament pulled in talent from every corner of the country.

Assam’s hill district squad performed in Kata and Kumite across Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, and Senior divisions. They walked away with 11 gold, two silver, and eight bronze medals. Chief instructor Sensei Chandrosing Chinthong steered the group to this victory. The Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation organized the event to provide a platform for rising stars.

Chinthong’s training remains the backbone of the district’s success. "The team’s success has drawn appreciation from supporters and officials and is expected to encourage more young athletes from the region to pursue martial arts." Local leaders expect this win to spark interest in the sport across the region.
