Kohima: The Concerned Naga Forum of Nagaland (CNFN) demands a swift investigation into the July 13 IED blast in Chümoukedima. The group labeled the explosion a cowardly act that puts the state's security and public order at risk. They urged citizens to stay calm and ignore rumors intended to break communal harmony.
The forum warned that bad actors may be trying to pull Manipur's ongoing conflict into Nagaland. They called for law enforcement to find those responsible and lock them up. The CNFN said the group behind the attack represents "miscreants or vested interests" aiming to derail the collective future of the Naga people.
Beyond the blast, the CNFN hit out at a June 11, 2026, agreement regarding oil and gas drilling. The tripartite pact between India, Assam, and Nagaland covers disputed border lands. The forum fears this deal compromises constitutional rights and called the move "a complete sellout" that sacrifices long-term interests for short-term gain.
The group also pushed the state government to settle the Frontier Nagaland Territory issue immediately. They warned that dragging the process out will only fuel public frustration and divide the region. Leaders from civil society, tribal bodies, and churches must now join forces to secure stability and protect local land rights for the next generation.
