Chakhesang Students’ Union Bans Taxation on Youth-Led Businesses

Kohima: The Chakhesang Students’ Union has officially prohibited all non-governmental organizations and political groups within its jurisdiction from collecting taxes from local students and young entrepreneurs. This directive aims to protect new business ventures from extortion, allowing local youths to pursue self-employment without the burden of additional financial demands.

Union leaders Lindi Nienu and Aveto Resu emphasized that the policy seeks to encourage innovation and build a more stable local economy. By removing these barriers, the union hopes to support business growth and reduce unemployment among the youth.

The organization warned that it will take strict action against any group that ignores this order. The union has also requested that the public report any attempts at extortion directly to its office, as it works to ensure full compliance and foster a supportive environment for community development.
