Chümoukedima School Urges Parents to Fight Youth Drug Abuse

Kohima: St Savio Higher Secondary School in Chümoukedima hosted a combined parents-teachers meeting on July 4. The event focused on protecting students from substance abuse through home and school cooperation. Varkey V J, a school board member, chaired the session.

Razouvotuo Chatsu, the village council chairman, told parents they must be active partners in their children's education. He argued that close collaboration between families and faculty creates responsible citizens. Wopen Jami, an officer from Diphupar Police Station, led an awareness session on drug prevention. He warned parents to watch their children's friendships and keep communication lines open to stop potential addiction.

Principal Reji Kuriakose described the necessary dynamic for student success. He noted that parents and teachers are "the two wings of a child" and must work together to help students reach their goals. The school wants everyone operating as one team.

Staff updated parents on new administrative projects. This included details on the Ayushman Bharat health insurance, the School360 app, and various scholarship programs. The school also held an open forum for feedback and elected Iviholi Kiho as the new parents' representative.
