Agartala: The Indian government has released Rs 75.60 crore to Tripura as the initial installment of a total Rs 252 crore recovery package. This funding, provided under the National Disaster Response Fund, is aimed at rebuilding infrastructure and supporting livelihoods after severe floods devastated the state in August 2024.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha confirmed the release on Friday. He noted that the state government secured the approval after conducting a comprehensive Post Disaster Needs Assessment and submitting a formal request to central authorities. The floods had caused widespread destruction, impacting numerous districts by damaging homes, public facilities, and essential road networks.

Dr. Saha expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their assistance during the recovery process. The funds will now facilitate ongoing rehabilitation efforts across the affected regions of the state.
