Agartala: The Indian government has released the first installment of ₹75.60 crore to support flood recovery efforts in Tripura. This funding comes from a total sanctioned relief package of ₹252 crore approved under the National Disaster Response Fund to assist the state following the catastrophic floods in August 2024.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha confirmed the release of the initial tranche on May 26, 2026. The funds follow a comprehensive post disaster needs assessment conducted by the state government, which documented significant damage to infrastructure, public assets, and local livelihoods.

After reviewing the state's formal request for financial support, the central government authorized the full recovery package. Dr. Saha expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the assistance. The government expects to disburse the remaining funds in phases as restoration projects advance across the state to help affected communities recover.
