Bodoland Territorial Council Announces Plans to Revive Cattle Markets and Grant Land Titles

Guwahati: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Council approved two major initiatives on June 4 to stimulate economic growth and resolve land ownership disputes in the Bodoland Territorial Region. Meeting at the council headquarters in Kokrajhar, officials finalized plans to both revive existing cattle markets and establish new ones throughout the region.

BTC Executive Member Maheswar Basumatary stated that these markets aim to strengthen the rural economy while creating new income opportunities for livestock owners, farmers, and traders. By facilitating easier livestock trade, the council expects to provide a boost to local commerce.

In a second policy shift, the council authorized the issuance of land pattas to landless families living in urban and rural areas. This move fulfills a primary commitment made by the Bodoland People's Front to grant legal recognition to residents currently living without official titles. The administration plans to release specific details regarding eligibility criteria and the implementation process in the near future.
