Itanagar: BJP spokesperson Tobom Dai threw his weight behind the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls during a press briefing in Bomdila. The West Kameng district headquarters served as the site for his defense of the controversial rollout. Dai branded the operation a standard constitutional procedure, essential for maintaining precise voter records across the state.
He stood firm with the Election Commission of India. The commission acted independently, following its own set of official guidelines to drive the process. Dai took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his Vote Chori campaign, labeling the recent backlash against the electoral body as groundless. He argued that attacking the integrity of the commission without proof threatens the foundation of democratic institutions.
The spokesperson demanded a shift in tone. "He dismissed allegations questioning the ECI’s integrity as baseless, claiming they could undermine democratic institutions without verified evidence," Dai noted. He urged the public and opposing political parties to stick to official documents. Rely on facts, not rumors, he insisted.
