Arunachal Officials Destroy Massive Illegal Cannabis Crop

Itanagar: A joint multi-agency team wiped out over 1.37 lakh kg of cannabis plants in Arunachal Pradesh. The sweep hit 458 acres in the West Kameng district. It was a massive haul. Operations focused on the Kalaktang subdivision from October 26 to November 3, 2026.

This push marks the first phase of an intensive eradication drive. Officials confirmed the illegal crops were growing mostly on community lands. The team intends to continue the campaign against these plantations. "The operation marks a major step in efforts to curb illegal cannabis cultivation in the district," officials said. Further phases will soon target remaining fields to shut down illicit production for good.
