Guwahati: E-waste management company Binbag successfully collected more than five tonnes of electronic waste across Assam during a week-long campaign marking World Environment Day 2026. The firm hosted various educational initiatives designed to promote sustainable disposal practices among students and local community members.

A significant portion of the collection effort took place at the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) Township, where Binbag partnered with the refinery to host awareness sessions. A spokesperson from the Environment Cell at Numaligarh Refinery Limited noted: "NRL is proud to be part of this meaningful initiative on World Environment Day. Responsible e-waste management is integral to our commitment to environmental stewardship, and we are glad to see such enthusiastic participation from our township community."

The company also collaborated with the Tihu College Science Forum to engage students through creative competitions, including street plays and drawing contests focused on climate action. Dr. Suresh Bharali, the principal of Tihu College, praised the collaboration for its impact on young people. He stated that the response from students was heartening and helped instill a sense of environmental responsibility.

Additionally, Binbag worked with the Dream India Network to conduct an awareness programme at Natun Fatasil Town High School. During this event, students received training on proper waste disposal and committed to implementing sustainable habits in their daily routines.
