Bhandari Board Reviews Infrastructure and Public Services at Monthly Meeting

Kohima: The Bhandari Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board met on June 10 to review regional infrastructure and public services. During the session, the board honored Achumbemo Kikon for his recent appointment as Advisor to the Chief Minister for SCERT and Food Processing in Nagaland.

Kikon addressed the ongoing progress of the Nagaland Foothill Road project after conducting personal site inspections. He stated that while current work is satisfactory, "the remaining works should be executed in a timely manner while adhering to prescribed specifications and quality standards."

Departmental representatives provided updates on local operations during the meeting. The Power Department is currently hosting public awareness campaigns regarding the rollout of smart meters. Officials also noted that additional manpower is necessary to maintain a reliable energy supply for the subdivision. Meanwhile, the Veterinary Department reported no cases of African Swine Fever following rigorous house-to-house surveillance and testing. They also promoted the National Livestock Mission as a way for farmers to secure assets and access banking services.

Security concerns were also raised by local officials. SDO Civil Ralan Tsenthungo E Ngullie identified a need for a police outpost in Tchujanphen Village, while SDPO Bhandari R Philips Yanthan requested a permanent police station at Champang to serve 18 border villages.

The board concluded by reviewing recent academic performance in government schools. To address concerns regarding exam results, the administration will begin regular monitoring visits this academic year to evaluate the performance of both teachers and students.
