Assam Student Group Files FIR Against Man Accused of Exploiting Minor

Guwahati: A 16-year-old girl from the Margherita Tea Estate in Assam has reportedly been rescued after she was allegedly exploited as a domestic worker in Guwahati. The girl was initially taken to the city by Shiv Bansal, a Margherita resident employed at a private bank, under the pretense that he would provide her with an education.

Instead of attending school, the teenager was allegedly made to work in the home of the accused. The situation came to light when the girl's mother traveled to the Gandhinagar area of Guwahati to bring her daughter home. She reported that Bansal and his wife physically restrained her and threatened to throw her from the building when she attempted to retrieve the child.

The mother successfully removed her daughter from the residence and returned to Tinsukia. She subsequently sought assistance from the All Adivasi Student Association of Assam. Members of the organization visited the victim's family and later confronted the parents of the accused.

The student association has filed a formal FIR at the Margherita Police Station against Bansal. The group is now calling for a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Local organizations have joined the push for justice, demanding a full probe into the circumstances surrounding the girl's relocation and the alleged abuse. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.
