Guwahati: A violent confrontation along a national highway in Lakhimpur, Assam, has triggered a police investigation after a couple operating a roadside food stall was allegedly attacked. The dispute reportedly began over the location of the couple's business near the Konanodi area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Chauldhowa Police Outpost.
Local residents allegedly engaged the couple in a heated argument that quickly turned into a physical assault. During the altercation, reports surfaced that the woman was forcibly stripped in public. The incident was captured on video by passersby, and the footage has since spread online, prompting significant outrage across the community.
The victim has officially filed a complaint with the police to seek justice for the assault. Alongside the advocacy group Jagriti Nari Shakti, she is calling for a formal investigation and strict legal consequences for the attackers. A spokesperson for the group stated, "The victim, along with the organisation Jagriti Nari Shakti, has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against those found responsible."
Police are now working to verify the claims and review the circumstances surrounding the attack. Investigators are expected to analyze the video evidence as part of their efforts to identify the suspects involved.
