Guwahati: Assam Police nabbed a man accused of running a fake recruitment racket for the Assam Rifles. Officers arrested Firoz Ali, also known as Firoz Ansari and B. Singh, early Thursday, November 5. The arrest went down in Kristianapara village, located under the Paneri Police Station in Udalguri district.

Ali allegedly masterminded a scheme that squeezed cash out of job seekers with empty promises of spots in the paramilitary force. He now faces charges tied to CID Police Station Case No. 07/2026. This case is registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Investigators raided the suspect's home. They seized two walkie-talkie sets and two mobile phones during the search. "The seized items are expected to be examined as part of the ongoing investigation," an official press release stated. Detectives are now working to track down other suspects and count exactly how many victims fell for the scam.
