Guwahati: Assam marks the 429th Tirobhav Tithi of Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdev today, September 1, 2026. The state is alive with activity. Devotees are packing Naamghars and Satras to honor the life and teachings of a man who shaped the region's religious and literary identity.
The atmosphere is thick with devotion. People are chanting Harinaam while performing Naam-Prasanga and reciting traditional works. As a lead disciple of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, Madhabdev spent his life pushing the Eka Sarana Naam Dharma forward. His spiritual footprint remains massive.
He left behind a deep literary catalog that still anchors local culture. His major works include Naam Ghosa, Adi Kanda Ramayana, Rajasuya Kavya, Janma Rahasya, Bhakti Ratnavali, and Naam-Malika. These sit alongside his Borgeets, Bhatimas, and Ankiya Naat.
Organizers say the day is about more than just ritual. It is about remembering his "immense contribution to Assam's religious, literary and cultural heritage." From small villages to large monastic centers, the entire state is focused on his enduring legacy.
