Hundreds Gather for Kumari Puja Ritual in Bongaigaon

Guwahati: Hundreds of devotees packed the Ramakrishna Sevashram in Missionpara, Bongaigaon, yesterday. They gathered to observe the traditional Kumari Puja. The ritual centers on a young girl chosen to represent Goddess Durga.

Devotees watched as the girl, dressed to embody the divine feminine, stood as a living symbol of Shakti. This practice highlights feminine power. It remains a core pillar of the Ramakrishna Mission tradition. Swami Vivekananda famously championed this form of worship to honor the divine mother.

Locals filled the Sevashram to offer prayers. The atmosphere stayed focused and traditional. Participants viewed the girl as a manifestation of the divine. As the ceremony progressed, organizers noted that the ritual is "associated with Swami Vivekananda, who emphasised the worship of the divine mother and the recognition of feminine power through the practice." The event drew a large crowd from across the Bongaigaon area.
