Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked the Tirobhav Tithi of Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardev on Saturday, September 12. He hailed the reformer as a pillar of Indian spirituality. He reached out to followers through a post on X.
Sarma credited the saint with stitching together the cultural and civilisational fabric of the nation. He offered his respects at the holy feet of the man who founded Ekasarana Naam Dharma. "Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev was one of the great Vaishnavite saints of Bharat, whose spiritual vision strengthened the civilisational and cultural unity of our nation," the Chief Minister stated.
The saint lived through the 15th and 16th centuries. He left a lasting mark on the religious, literary, and cultural traditions of Assam. Sarma noted that the reformer passed down the values of Sanatan Dharma to countless generations through his art, literature, and teachings.
