Guwahati: Assam kicked off its online self-enumeration for Census 2027 on August 2. Residents can now log household details from home. Officials pushed for high participation and total accuracy. The digital portal remains active through August 16.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the charge. He completed his form and posted on social media. "Today marks the beginning of online self-enumeration for Census 2027 in Assam, where you can sit in the comfort of your home and fill in your details. I just did mine; requesting everyone to fill their details correctly and be a part of this exercise," Sarma said.
Other leaders followed suit. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and MLA Sewli Mohilary finished their filings at their official residence. In Dima Hasao, Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa completed his entry with help from the local district administration. All officials emphasized that this data guides future welfare planning and government policy.
The process requires users to sign in via OTP verification at the official portal: https://se.census.gov.in/. After submitting household and family data, residents receive a Self-Enumeration (SE) ID. Save this ID. You must show it to a Census Enumerator during the field stage. That phase, known as House Listing and Housing Census, runs from August 17 to September 15, 2026.
Authorities postponed the census work in Sivasagar and Charaideo. These two districts remain hard hit by ongoing floods. Everywhere else, the administration expects citizens to use the digital tool to improve government transparency.
