Guwahati: Assam kicked off its online self-enumeration for Census 2027 on Sunday, August 2. Residents can now log in to the official portal to submit their household and individual details digitally. The window for this initial phase stays open until August 16. Officials plan to start the House Listing Operations and Housing Census from August 17 through September 15.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the state in the process, filing his own information early. He pushed citizens to handle their civic duty with care. "Today marks the beginning of online self-enumeration for Census 2027 in Assam, where you can sit in the comfort of your home and fill in your details. I just did mine; requesting everyone to fill their details correctly and be a part of this exercise," Sarma wrote on social media.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and MLA Sewli Mohilary also completed their registration at their official residence. They frame the count as a backbone for future development and welfare programs. To participate, users must verify their identity via OTP and secure a generated Self-Enumeration ID. Residents must present this ID to census enumerators during the physical field verification phase.
Flood conditions forced a delay in two districts. The exercise is postponed in Sivasagar and Charaideo due to the ongoing water crisis. Officials in other areas maintain that accurate data collection remains a priority for long-term governance and planning.
