Guwahati: Assam remembers Madan Chandra Barman and Rauta Ram Koch today. The state pays homage to these men for their role in the 1942 Quit India Movement. They died fighting British rule.
History lists both men as martyrs from the Barpeta region. Rauta Ram Koch fell on September 25, 1942. His death remains a defining moment of the local anti-British struggle.
Madan Chandra Barman also gave his life during this period of intense political unrest. Today, leaders and public representatives gathered to honor their bravery. They recalled how these fighters stood firm against colonial pressure.
Officials praised their legacy during the remembrance ceremony. They noted that "their contribution remains a source of inspiration for generations."
