Assam CM Vows Corruption-Free Hiring as Education Grants Expand

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma promised a clean slate for state hiring. He spoke on August 6 at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati. The recruitment process is currently free of graft. Sarma vowed to keep it that way for the next five years. "There is no corruption in government jobs now. We will not allow corruption to creep into the recruitment process over the next five years as well," the Chief Minister said.

Sarma also targeted the education sector with new cash injections. He pledged one-time grants of Rs 2 lakh to 793 schools damaged by recent floods. His administration also hiked student aid packages. Under the Babu Aasoni program, degree students will get Rs 1,000 monthly, and postgraduates will receive Rs 1,200 monthly.

Girl students see higher payments under the Nijut Moina Scheme. Higher Secondary students receive Rs 800 per month. Undergraduate women get Rs 1,200 each month. Postgraduate female students will collect Rs 2,500 monthly. Sarma stated these funds will keep learning moving across the state.
