Guwahati: Assam plans to offer emergency cash advances of up to Rs 10,000 to Orunodoi beneficiaries. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the proposal aims to help women manage urgent financial crises. The state plans to recoup this money through small monthly deductions from future scheme payments.
The government currently sends funds to roughly 37 lakh women. Each recipient has been getting Rs 9,000 since April. Sarma identified this scheme as a top priority for the state this financial year. He noted that officials are currently working to link all benefits with Aadhaar to stop fraud and confirm payments reach the right people. This transition caused temporary delays for about 17,000 beneficiaries. The government promises to fix these snags quickly.
Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah announced extra help for those hit by recent disasters. "Flood-affected Orunodoi beneficiaries would receive an additional Rs 2,500 in financial assistance." Mallabaruah also stated that 36 lakh women will contribute Rs 150 each to support ongoing flood relief operations.
The state is also deploying staff to keep the system running smoothly. Orunodoi Sarathis now have specific duties in every locality. These assigned workers exist to guide beneficiaries and solve local problems related to the scheme.
