Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held high-level meetings on June 2 with top representatives from Larsen and Toubro and Bharti Enterprises. The discussions aimed to bolster the state's infrastructure and telecommunications reach, while moving forward with a major employment initiative.

Sarma met with L&T Chairman and Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan to review the progress of ongoing engineering projects. The conversation focused on project execution strategies to ensure these developments remain on schedule.

In a separate session, Sarma sat down with Bharti Enterprises Vice Chairman Rajan Bharti Mittal to explore the company’s expansion plans for Assam. Their talk centered on improving mobile and internet access in underserved regions to bridge existing network gaps.

These corporate partnerships align with the state government's broader economic goals, recently highlighted by the launch of the Mission 2 Lakh Govt Jobs program. This initiative aims to fill two lakh government positions across various departments and autonomous bodies within the next five years.

A task force led by the Chief Secretary is currently mapping out vacancies and recruitment timelines. This panel is required to submit a comprehensive implementation report within three months, signaling a swift start to the state's hiring push.
