Guwahati: The Assam government is set to expand its cabinet as twelve new ministers prepare to take the oath of office this Friday. BJP Assam State President Dilip Saikia confirmed the development on Thursday, stating that the move follows the strong mandate granted to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the recent election cycle.

Saikia described the incoming group as a collection of experienced and capable leaders who have already made notable contributions in social and administrative roles. He expects this expansion to bolster the state government's overall governance and development agenda. Extensive preparations are underway in Guwahati to accommodate party members, officials, and representatives from across the state at the ceremony.

A primary focus of the new appointments is the inclusion of Nilima Devi from the Mangaldai region. Saikia emphasized that her role is a key step in increasing the influence of women in the state decision-making process. He said, "The induction of Nilima Devi from the Mangaldai region reflects the BJP's commitment to enhancing women's participation in governance."

The state leadership maintains that this expansion represents a broader effort to provide more opportunities for women in public life. The upcoming ceremony is expected to be a major event, drawing attendance from senior political figures and various public stakeholders.
