Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik is calling for the expansion and modernization of the state's Advanced Landing Grounds to bolster national security and regional connectivity. During a meeting in Shillong on Thursday, Parnaik discussed the strategic necessity of these airfields with Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia.

Parnaik emphasized that the network of landing grounds serves a vital role beyond military operations. He noted that these facilities are essential for disaster management and providing rapid access to remote, isolated regions of the state. He specifically praised the Indian Air Force for its ongoing humanitarian work, including medical evacuations and the delivery of essential supplies during natural disasters.

Reflecting on the importance of the partnership, the Governor said, "well-maintained ALGs are crucial for supporting defence operations, improving connectivity in remote regions, and ensuring rapid response during emergencies."

The discussion took place on the sidelines of the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council. Air Marshal Walia pledged the continued support of the Eastern Air Command to develop air infrastructure and maintain emergency response capabilities across the northeastern region.
