Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu sent his best wishes to the Adi community on September 1. The state leader kicked off the traditional Solung harvest festival with a message sent across social media. He prayed for health, peace, and prosperity for every home.
The celebration holds deep roots. It marks the end of the hard work spent sowing and weeding crops. Khandu invoked the blessings of Donyi Polo, Kine-Naane, Doying-Bote, and Dadii-Bote for a bumper harvest. He wrote, "Solung Gii-Di Em Takamem Agampe!"
Festivities run for five days. They center on the East Siang and Upper Siang districts. Families gather to thank the land and celebrate their indigenous heritage. Women perform the traditional Ponung dance as a core highlight of the event. The festival binds the community together in thanksgiving.
