Itanagar: The Human Rights of Arunachal is pushing for an impartial probe into a private meeting between former Adi Baane Kebang president Thomas Borang and the Chief Minister. The HRA, led by chairman Dr. Kipa Kaha, wants to know if Borang made backroom deals regarding the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.

HRA leadership demanded that the ABK form an independent fact-finding committee to identify who attended the meeting. They want to confirm if the organization authorized the discussion or if project commitments were made. The group also wants law enforcement to review the evidence and potentially register an FIR. The organization clarified, "its demand for an investigation should not be construed as a declaration of guilt against any individual."

The HRA raised concerns about the project's impact on ancestral land and cultural heritage. They demanded the current ABK leadership explain decisions made during Borang's tenure. The group also targeted the project's High-Power Committee, including chairman and state minister Ojin Tasing, to answer for their roles.

Elected officials must speak up. The HRA asked Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao and MLAs Alo Libang, Onit Panyang, Oken Tayeng, and Tapi Darang to disclose any records or agreements they hold regarding the project. While the group avoids claims of corruption, they insist that representatives account for their actions to their constituents.

Support for public dialogue remains strong. The HRA praised a social media briefing by Oyem Dai as a healthy step for democratic accountability. They urged all parties to keep the peace and maintain unity while they press for formal transparency on the Siang project.
