Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh officials locked up four men under the state's Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The move comes after four months of mounting chaos in the Upper Siang district. Violent clashes and arson linked to the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project have left the region on edge. Tensions flared during pre-feasibility survey work for the massive dam.

Deputy Commissioner Ashok Tajo identified the detainees as Adum Tayom, Omak Paron, Okut Paloh, and Oson Paron. These men represent the Geku area. The district administration confirmed that government vehicles burned and homes suffered damage during the unrest. Public fear has stalled local development efforts.

Yingkiong police previously filed reports against the suspected ringleaders. These charges failed to stop the attacks. Officials now insist the dam project and crime are separate issues. They warned that using the project as an excuse for mayhem will not fly. The administration stated, "The law will take its own course."

The authorities claim the detention orders protect public safety. They are calling for calm. Residents should use dialogue instead of force to settle disputes. The administration remains firm that order must return to Upper Siang.
