Guwahati: Doctors at Apollo Hospitals Guwahati have officially appealed to the group's top leadership to intervene in a mounting dispute with the local administration. The hospital’s Doctors’ Forum is calling for an independent review of the facility after members held a two-day protest, halting elective surgeries and outpatient department services while maintaining emergency care.

The unrest follows allegations that local management mistreated senior staff members. In a letter to Vice Chairperson Preetha Reddy and Joint Managing Director Sangita Reddy, the forum highlighted a growing rift between medical staff and the hospital's leadership. The group cited persistent issues with Chief Operating Officer Manoj Roy, HR Head Pratik Agarwal, Operations Head Amar Sarma, and Medical Superintendent Hirak Das.

According to the formal complaint, the current leadership has failed to uphold professional standards. The letter stated, "the present leadership had failed to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and professional dignity." These tensions reportedly escalated following incidents involving senior doctors M.P. Das and Ashish Agarwal.

Beyond interpersonal conflicts, medical staff raised concerns regarding clinical practices. Sources indicated that doctors face revenue-linked performance pressures, which have allegedly led to patients being pushed toward unnecessary diagnostic testing. The forum contends that this administrative culture is eroding morale and damaging the institution's reputation, prompting their urgent request for an impartial corporate assessment.
