Agartala Government Medical College Secures 131st Spot in National Rankings

Agartala: Agartala Government Medical College landed 131st in the latest International Institutional Ranking Framework report. The institution pulled a score of 772.54 out of 1000 on the Overall Weighted Index. This placement puts the college firmly inside the country's top 150 medical schools. It is a big win for healthcare in Tripura.

The college earned specific marks across several categories. It scored 127.83 for Teaching Learning Resources and Pedagogy, 130.15 for Research Outcome, and 131.89 for Innovative Medical Infrastructure. Social Inclusion added 128.93 points, while Future Orientation contributed 127.83. External Perception rounded out the results at 119.33.

AIIMS New Delhi took the top national spot. Madras Medical College in Chennai and JIPMER in Puducherry claimed second and third place. The framework judged these schools on research, academic output, placement performance, and industry integration.

Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr. Manik Saha is currently driving a campaign to turn AGMC and GB Pant Hospital into hubs for advanced medical care. The state government remains focused on building better infrastructure and training skilled professionals. According to official reports, the ranking reflects "improvements in medical education under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha." AGMC now coordinates research and academic work alongside partners like AIIMS New Delhi, ICMR, Mohan Foundation, and Jhpiego.
