Kohima: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) teamed up with the Wokha District Horticulture Office to host a capacity building event on June 2, 2026. Held at the Eloe Hoho Community Hall, the program aimed to help local farmers and entrepreneurs tap into global markets for passion fruit, banana, and ginger.
Assistant Horticulture Officer Y. Shanchobeni Humtsoe chaired the event, which drew 66 attendees including industry exporters and local producers. The session focused on essential export requirements, covering topics such as quality standards, necessary documentation, and modern packaging techniques.
Joydev Roy from the APEDA North Eastern Regional office detailed available financial assistance programs and guided attendees through the registration process for export documentation. The event also featured practical advice from Horticulture Inspector Ruth Humtsoe on fruit processing and preservation methods.
Rajeev Medhi, an exporter representing Jingshai Enterprises, provided firsthand insights into the logistics of the trade, emphasizing the importance of proper harvesting and pre-cooling practices. By the end of the session, participants were encouraged to connect with APEDA digital platforms for ongoing support and information.
