Wokha Declares Paid Holiday for Ward 8 Voters

Kohima: Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, has announced a paid holiday for employees living in Ward 8 (Tsumang B) to facilitate voting on June 16. This directive follows a notification from the Government of Nagaland Home Department and applies to all registered voters in the ward, regardless of whether they work in a different area.

The order extends to staff at banks and financial institutions under the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1981. Additionally, all shops and commercial establishments in the ward managed by registered voters must close during polling hours. The circular also mandates that any date set for a potential re-poll will be treated as a public holiday for these electors.

Certain exemptions exist for the policy, as the official notice stated, "The above provisions however, shall not apply to any Electors whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss in respect of the employment in which he/she is engaged."
