Shillong: A resident of East Patharkata in Tikrikilla has filed a formal complaint against 17 individuals following an alleged assault and campaign of intimidation. Shahidur Islam lodged the FIR at the Tikrikilla Police Station on Monday, claiming the harassment stems from his decision to report irregularities within the local Village Employment Council to the district Deputy Commissioner.
Islam stated that the issues began on May 26, shortly after he submitted his grievances to the administration. According to the complaint, he was accosted by several people who threatened him with dire consequences. Although he previously attempted to involve law enforcement, Islam claimed he was later coerced into signing a document to withdraw his initial report.
The situation escalated recently when Islam was allegedly attacked outside his home. He identified Mofizul Rahman as the individual who carried out the physical assault. The list of 17 accused includes the East Patharkata Village Employment Council Secretary. Islam has urged authorities to take swift legal action, stating, "I have urged the police to initiate immediate legal action against the group for the assault and ongoing intimidation."
