Shillong: The Meghalaya government is handing out free laptops to high-achieving students who passed their 2026 Class 10 and 12 board exams. This program rewards academic excellence and boosts digital access across the state. The Directorate of Information Technology and Communications (DITC) is running the show.
Eligible students must have passed the MBOSE SSLC, MBOSE HSSLC, ICSE, ISC, or CBSE examinations. For students under the CBSE, ICSE, and ISC boards, the state mandates that their schools must be located within Meghalaya to qualify. The government has already uploaded a provisional list of eligible students to the DITC website.
Check the list. If your name appears but you have received no official word, you must head to the DITC office. Bring your original marksheets, a valid photo ID, and any other relevant supporting documents for verification. The state aims for transparency. "The verification exercise is intended to ensure that all eligible students receive the benefits of the scheme in a transparent and timely manner," officials said.
Registration is now live. The online portal opened on August 3 and closes on September 3, 2026. Students may also submit written queries or objections regarding the provisional list to the directorate by that same September 3 deadline. Officials will announce the final distribution schedule once they finish clearing the verification process.
