Kohima: The Rattle & Hum Music Society formally inducted Wenyitso Kapfo as its new president during a ceremony at Hotel Vivor in Kohima on June 12. Kapfo succeeds Neingulie Nakhro, whom he praised for his leadership, tenacity, and meticulous efforts in documenting the society's various activities.
During his address, Kapfo reflected on the origins of the organization, recalling how it began as a "crazy dream" under the guidance of President Emeritus Theja Meru. The event featured several key presentations, including opening remarks from Meru and a formal report delivered by the outgoing president.
The society maintains a mission to educate artists in music, art, dance, theatre, and literature about their impact on cultural development. Since its founding, the organization has achieved significant recognition, notably receiving the Governor's Gold Medal Award in 2020 for its contributions to the arts. It also works with groups like the ICCR and various Indian Embassies to promote cultural diversity.
The organization’s leadership team includes several secretaries overseeing administration, operations, culture, and logistics. Abu Metha, who serves as the advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland, remains an advisor to the society.
