Kohima: The Western Angami Public Organisation sent an urgent demand to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd and the Nagaland Public Works Department on July 27. They want immediate repairs on National Highway-29. Relentless rain has wrecked the route.
WAPO highlighted dangerous road conditions at Kezanu, Liezocha, the Bypass Petrol Pump area, and the landslide zone at Melierü near Dzüdza village. Potholes and cracks cover the road. These spots threaten motorists daily. The highway acts as a primary link between Dimapur and Kohima, yet it remains unstable.
The group warned that the road will likely become impassable as the monsoon persists past October. They expect authorities to fix the subsidence, patch the surface, and ensure long-term maintenance. WAPO stated, "The organisation may be compelled to initiate appropriate action in the interest of public safety and welfare." Officials must act now to keep the route open and safe for all commuters.
