Itanagar: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, visited Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday to bolster the state's traditional crafts and infrastructure. During his trip to the Lower Subansiri district, the minister laid the foundation stone for the Ziro Handloom Marketing Complex. This facility aims to provide local weavers with a dedicated platform to showcase their work and access broader markets.

Margherita emphasized that the project would strengthen the handloom sector and improve livelihoods for artisans throughout the region. He also distributed specialized toolkits to local craftspeople under the Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme, an initiative designed to enhance productivity and preserve tribal craftsmanship.

Addressing the local community, the minister described the state as an essential component of India's cultural heritage. He said, "Arunachal Pradesh occupies a special place in India's cultural identity and reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to promoting traditional crafts and strengthening local livelihoods."

The minister commended Chief Minister Pema Khandu for balancing infrastructure progress with the protection of tribal traditions. Throughout his visit, Margherita met with officials and local leaders, including MLA Hage Appa, to discuss regional development and the effective implementation of central government schemes. Before moving on to the Kra Daadi district, he inspected the progress of textile programs to ensure that state resources reach residents effectively.
