Guwahati: Forest officials and police apprehended two suspects in the Agaratoli forest area of Latabari following a joint intelligence-led operation. Authorities identified the individuals as Jintu Orang and Sarbang Ronghang, taking them into custody for suspected illegal hunting activities.

During the raid, the task force seized a handmade firearm and a motorcycle linked to the pair. Officials confirmed the arrests followed specific tips regarding the presence of poachers within the range.

The Forest Department is currently investigating whether the men have links to previous crimes or additional accomplices. This mission aligns with broader initiatives to bolster wildlife protection within the Kaziranga landscape. According to officials, the operation was launched "following a tip-off regarding the movement of suspected poachers in the Agaratoli forest range."
