Agartala: The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency is pushing to expand the state solar generation capacity by 11 MW during the current financial year. Tripura currently produces approximately 35 MW of solar power, and officials are working to increase this footprint by installing energy systems across various government institutions.

Director General in-charge Debabrata Sukladas confirmed that implementation efforts are moving quickly to reach the upcoming goal. He stated, "We have set a target of generating 11 MW of solar power during 2026-27. Work to achieve this target is in full swing."

The expansion plan includes placing solar units in all 58 Block Development Offices and 275 village committee offices. While the tender process for these installations is nearing completion, the state has already equipped all district magistrate offices with solar panels. Of the 1,919 government buildings identified for the project, 90 have already transitioned to the solar network. Officials intend to integrate the remaining facilities in a phased manner to foster a sustainable power system throughout the region.
