Agartala: Tripura is gearing up for the century-old Kharchi Puja. The week-long festival kicks off on July 22 at the Chaturdasha Devata Temple in Old Agartala. Officials held a planning meeting today to hammer out the details for the massive event.
MLA Ratan Chakraborty led the session at the West Tripura District Magistrate office. He stressed the importance of the event for local unity. "The festival has become a symbol of pride as it reflects the rich cultural heritage of Tripura, drawing thousands of devotees and visitors from across the country and abroad each year."
Workers are focusing on site infrastructure. They must provide steady power, clean water, and better street lighting. Medical crews will patrol the fairgrounds to keep crowds safe. Authorities also plan to clear traffic jams by setting up designated parking lots for the influx of visitors.
The fair will host several government stalls. These displays aim to highlight projects finished during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12-year tenure. The Department of Information and Cultural Affairs plans to run daily performances on two main stages. Food vendors will occupy a dedicated court to feed the hungry crowds.
