Agartala: Tripura Police seized over 31 kg of suspected ganja and arrested three people in two separate raids near Agartala on September 30. Officers from the Srinagar police outpost launched the first strike Tuesday night in Malyanagar. They caught 23-year-old Nayan Das carrying three packets of the drug hidden in a black bag.

A second, larger bust occurred early Wednesday on the bypass road near Amtali Police Station. Officers stopped an Aura car, registration TR 01 BW 0764, around 1 am. The suspects tried to run. Police chased them down and seized 25 kg of dry ganja stashed inside the vehicle. The haul has an estimated value of Rs 5 lakh.

Police arrested the two occupants, 19-year-olds Jit Deb and Bishal Deb from Chandinamura. The suspects claimed they picked up the load near the border and planned to ship it by train from Agartala. Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee said, "The vehicle came under suspicion during routine naka checking and was subsequently searched."

Authorities registered Case No. 109/2026 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Investigators are currently checking the claims made by the suspects. Police will bring the accused to court to request custody for further questioning.
